Metal-on-metal (MOM) articulating surfaces are becoming increasingly popular for hip replacement surgery. This ongoing prospective longitudinal study examines the serum chromium (SrCr) and cobalt (SrCo) and urine chromium (UrCr) levels in patients with MOM surface (SA) and total hip (THA) arthroplasty to specifically examine the relationship between head size and serum and urine metal levels.
