The unispacer: update and biomechanics

Richard Hallock
Knee

UniSpacer results are consistent between year 1 and year 2 follow-up. Clinical scores, patients satisfaction, and alignment remain the same or slightly better between the first and second year of implantation. Obesity is not a contraindication as it can be for other options. Older patients show the least favorable results, implying that other options should be considered in that age group. Biomechanical analysis demonstrates reproducible motion during flexion and extension which confirms what is seen clinically in these patients. This is a truly mobile bearing arthroplasty that remains a free floating device throughout the range of motion.
