The accurate noninvasive diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection remains a challenge. In recent years, fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) imaging has shown great promise in delineating areas of infection. We aimed to determine the accuracy of FDG-PET in diagnosing periprosthetic infection as compared with conventional studies, such as indium 111–labeled leukocyte scintigraphy.
