Background: Highly crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) is attributed to have better wear resistance and oxidative properties than the conventional polyethylene (CPE). XLPE has shown to be successful in hip arthroplasty but its benefits over CPE in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) remains unclear.
