Staged revision for knee arthroplasty infection: what is the role of serological tests prior to reimplantation?

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) are popular preoperative diagnostic markers for prosthetic joint infection (PJI) with well delineated cut-off values. The prognostic role of serology prior to reimplantation has yet to be defined. The current study aims to determine the prognostic value of ESR and CRP performed prior to second stage reimplantation for the treatment of infected TKA.
