Long-term porous-coated cup survivorship using spikes, screws, and press-fitting for initial fixation
Charles A. Engh, MD Robert H. Hopper Jr, PhD C.Anderson Engh Jr, MDHip
Initial fixation of porous-coated cups can be achieved with spikes, screws, or by press-fitting the component. When we utilized spiked components, the acetabulum was reamed to the same diameter as the cup. In all other cases, the acetabulum was undersized by 1 mm relative to the cup diameter.
