Long-term outcomes of a rotating platform mobile bearing prosthesis after TKA

This study presents long-term clinical follow-up on the cementless use of a PCL-sacrificing rotating platform mobile bearing total knee design. 923 consecutive primary knees were implanted in 706 patients. Forty-two cases were revised and fifteen of those had isolated polyethylene exchange. The total knee score improved 28 points (62 pre-op to 90 post-op). Range of motion improved 15 degrees (98 pre-op to 113 post-op). Reliable 13-year survivorship estimate for all cause revisions was 90.3% (95% C.I.: 85.9% – 94.6%). This paper describes a successful first generation mobile bearing knee device and represents a gold standard to these evolving systems.
