How Easy is it to Revise a Failed Resurfacing of the Hip?

Scott Ball; Harlan Amstutz; Michel Le Duff*

A theoretical advantage of resurfacing arthroplasty of the hip is the ease of revision, should this be needed. However, this advantage has never been clearly demonstrated. The objective of the present study was to test the hypothesis that a failed, modern-generation metal-on-metal resurfacing arthroplasty (MMRA) can be easily and successfully converted to a total hip arthroplasty (THA).
