Acetabular Revision Using a Cementless Protrusio Shell: Clinical and Radiographic Analysis at Midterm Follow-Up

Thomas Blumenfeld; William Barger

A common finding in acetabular revision surgery is loss of medial cavitary or segmental bone stock. A cementless protrusio shell that has 6 mm of lateral augmentation is useful in restoring the joint center while at the same time increasing implant to host bone contact. To date, no clinical information is available for this component. This study was undertaken to evaluate both implant survivorship and the radiographic ability to restore the joint center.
