Wear of the bearing surfaces continue to be one of the most important factors compromising the long-term outcome of total hip arthroplasty. Highly crosslinked polyethylene (PE) liners have been shown to have favorable wear performance in vitro. The objective of this self-matched study was to compare the clinical wear performance of highly crosslinked PE with conventional (ARCOM) PE in the same patient.
