Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty: Implant Survival and Risk Factors for Implant Failure at 11-Year Follow-up

Although recent advances in implant design and minimally invasive surgical techniques for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) have led to improved clinical results, there continues to be controversy over the effectiveness of this surgical procedure. Orthopedic surgeons have proposed stringent patient selection criteria to ensure excellent short and midterm results; however, there is disagreement as to what the absolute and relative contraindications for UKA are. The purpose of the present study was to report on the long-term results associated with the Zimmer UKA implant.
