Total hip (THA) and knee (TKA) arthroplasty are associated with a significant risk of symptomatic pulmonary embolism (PE). The goal of this study was to determine appropriate usage of postoperative spiral computed tomographic (CT) scans to detect PE and proximal deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
