The St Georg rotating total knee arthroplasty: A historical review

Twenty-nine primary St Georg rotational knee arthroplasties in 21 patients have been assessed after a minimum follow-up period of 6 years (mean 10.6 years). In all cases, pain scores, ambulation and range of motion were significantly improved. There have been no radiological or clinical signs of impending failure and there have been few complications. This implant has been equally satisfactory for both rheumatoid and osteoarthritic patients. The best use for this implant is when excessive ligament instability and loss of bone stock make a total condylar design impractical.
