The Knee – a little progress

J.H Newman
Knee

When The Knee was launched in 1994, one of the editors’ aspirations was to be able to combine a group of original articles with invited reviews on a related topic. In the past this has proved difficult, but with this issue we publish three original articles on blood management in total knee replacement and Peter Earnshaw, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Guy’s Hospital, London has written an editorial commentary reminding readers of the importance of this much neglected aspect of the practice of knee surgery. He is one of the few knee surgeons in the United Kingdom to have first hand experience of working with a variety of autologous techniques and his comments should be heeded. It is hoped to address other topics in a similar way in future issues.
