Background: Unicompartmental knee replacement (UKR) offers advantages over total knee replacement, but has higher revision rates. A leading cause for UKR revision is aseptic loosening. In an attempt to improve cemented femoral component fixation a new design was introduced with a Dual, rather than Single, peg. We used the National Joint Registry (NJR) to compare the 5-year outcomes of the Single and Dual peg cemented UKRs.
