The increase in total knee replacement procedures has created a commensurate increase in the number of total knee arthroplasty revisions (TKAR). Revision surgery is generally a more technically difficult procedure than a primary total knee replacement and accordingly associated with significantly higher costs. The purpose of these studies was to take a novel approach to examine how patient factors affect outcomes of TKAR and to provide recommendations for clinical practitioners handling patients undergoing TKAR.
