Oestrogen replacement therapy may help prevent osteoarthritis

Elderly women taking oral oestrogen replacement therapy seem to have a lower risk of developing osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip than do women who have never been on the therapy, according to a new US study (Arch Intern Med 1996; 156:2073–80).
