Peri-capsular injections during total knee arthroplasty are gaining popularity. Multiple pharmacologic “cocktails” and injection protocols are described with consistent benefits in pain control and patient outcomes. Our study investigates an isolated posterior capsular injection of ropivacaine during TKA in a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled fashion. We hypothesized the study group would have improved post-operative pain control and therapy outcomes.
