Implant Migration in Total Knee Arthroplasty is Related to Body Mass Index and Tibial Component Size
Michael E. Berend, MD* Merrill A. Ritter, MD* Ken Davis Hans Hyldahl, MDKnee
Aseptic loosening of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implants is multifactorial related to alignment, polyethylene wear, and patient factors of body mass index (BMI) and activity level. The purpose of this study was to determine if it is possible to predict tibial implant migration in vivo using the combination of BMI and tibial component size.
