The development of total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a notable achievement of contemporary orthopaedic surgery, and Gerald Finerman and colleagues have attempted to compile information regarding the outcomes of procedures employing various prosthetic designs and techniques. However, they define “outcomes” narrowly, as measured by time to revision surgery or removal, reasoning that design changes are intended to prolong prosthetic survival.
