Removal of the distal cement plug in revision total hip arthroplasty may be difficult, even if the plug is located distally in the famur. We have developed a new extraction device, which consists of a K-wire and a cannulated drill and extractor, which could be placed centrally under visual control. Our clinical experience demonstrates that the use of this device reduces the risk of a femoral perforation and facilitates removal of the plug.
