Infection after a total hip arthroplasty is a severe complication and is associated with a high incidence of morbidity. We describe a case of late infection, 5 years after the implantation of a cemented hip prosthesis. The infection was caused by gram-negative Brucella melitensis and occurred in a 63-year-old man who owned cattle. As far as we know, such a complication has never been published before.
