Thompson’s hemiarthroplasties are in widespread use, and acetabular erosion is a reported complication. We report on a case where a titanium prosthesis was used, with the later development of acetabular erosion, and the management of this complication. Whilst no link between the use of titanium and subsequent complications is proven in this case, it is a factor to be aware of when implanting Thompson’s prostheses made of titanium, particularly in the younger patient.
